Control System MBH has completed and commissioned the project: "MES system for collection and evaluation of production data on all packaging lines" .This project comprises a complex structure of many different machines for beer packaging in various containers on several packaging lines.
Machines on packing lines are operated primarily with Simatic S5 and S7 controllers. The whole system is connected to an Ethernet network (including the S5 controller) and to the so-called Data Collector PLC, which forwards the collected measurements to Wonderware MES servers and towards the ERP (SAP) system.
In this project we used our original solution for communication between S5 and S7 controllers over TCP/IP protocol. For that purpose, we used a gateway: Simatic S5 AS511 to TCP/IP.
At the end, we performed our original method of data validation, while the whole system was online and running smoothly.
